Service Description

Students will use both hand building skills and pottery forms to produce handmade dinnerware plates, bowls, or chargers. This class is perfect for those who have had some hand-building classes along with the ability to use the pottery wheel, but no throwing skills needed. In this class, we will use slab rollers, templates, forms, and the pottery wheel or banding wheel to create these dinnerware pieces. One of the key features of this workshop is that personalized instruction is provided to each student, additionally, the class is intentionally kept small in size to facilitate a more intimate and focused learning environment. This workshop will meet 2 consecutive weeks to create and refine dinnerware, with a one week off for drying and firing of pieces. It is important that students attend all classes. In the last class students will return to hand paint & glaze their pieces. *Students must purchase add on of $45 to cover clay and glazing. This can be added at check out. *Any pieces in addition to the 2 pieces mentioned will be charged by piece. *Pottery will be fired and students will be contacted to pick up their pottery. Please remember that we cannot hold pottery for longer than 30 days after first contact, thank you.

The Pottery Studio is a small, intimate, friendly studio where people make friends easily and build a community. If you would like to check out the studio before registering, send me an email to make an appointment! STUDIO GUIDELINES: NO OUTSIDE CLAY/GLAZES/or pottery made elsewhere. Please follow all cleanliness guidelines that are posted in studio. Silica dust is deadly, and there are good reasons for all the cleaning rules posted. This is one of the cleanest studios you will ever see. There are no dirty tools in buckets, YOU MUST LEAVE YOUR WORKSPACE/TABLES/BOARDS AND WHEELS CLEAN thanks! (cleaning is part of making and we will show you how!) Bring your own towels and apron if you choose and bring items HOME TO WASH BETWEEN CLASSES. Dry clay creates dust. Work wet and clean wet, do not let clay dry on tools, hands, tables, towels, floors etc. Clean up dust, clay lint, clay bits immediately. Arrive on time, class ends on time. There are no make ups for missed classes. If the instructor has to cancel, arrangements will be made to make up the time. Manage your expectations, pottery can be difficult ! I make every effort for you to succeed, but if you are after perfection, this is not the place for you. Things happen, pieces break, glaze fails, on and on.
